Fire Season is Off and Running - Be Fire Safe in Your Recreation Travels
This time of year is a mixed blessing for recreation enthusiasts. It's warm and sunny all around the country - and it is the final month before school starts to take that long awaited vacation with friends and families. But it is also the time of year when lightning fires occur frequently - and fires are started by careless visitors. If you ARE one of the lucky ones to go camping or take a trip into the backcountry or wilderness, please be sure to take extra care to completely extinguish your campfires and BBQs. Also - be sure you are alert to roads and trails that could provide an alternative exit route should the need arise. NFRA's members can certainly provide good information for the area you are visiting.
We hope you do have the opportunity to take advantage of Hot August Days and Nights and enjoy one of our nation's incredible national forests or parks. And if you want the best trip possible, stay or play with one of NFRA's members. You'll be glad you did!
